Mudpuppies Set to Host NFPL Playoffs Semifinal Match on April 27th

The Ann Arbor Mudpuppies wrapped up a successful inaugural season in the National Premier Futsal League, finishing second overall. The top three teams qualified for the league’s first postseason with the second seed slated to host the third seed. The Mudpuppies will in turn host FC Tryzub (of Chicago), on Saturday, April 27th at 7PM. All kids under the age of 14 will receive free admission to the playoff bout. Adult tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance online here.

The winner of the only semifinal match will advance to the finals to take on league champion, Futsal Indy, on Friday, May 3rd in Indianapolis for a chance at being crowed the 2019 NFPL Playoff Champion.

“We’re thrilled to be competing in the first NFPL playoffs and are focused on advancing to the finals. The community support has been amazing and we’re hoping to make them proud and deliver another home result,” said Bilal Saeed GM and co-owner.

Prior to the match, a brief moment of silence will take place to honor three members of the football and futsal community that lost their lives in the Christchurch shooting in March. Players will also be wearing wristbands with the initials of three of the many who tragically lost their lives, with ties to the sports. Atta Ellayan was a goalkeeper for the All White (New Zealand National Futsal team), Tariq Omar who was a youth soccer coach at Christchurch United and Sayaad Milne who was a young aspiring and talented goalkeeper himself. The wristbands marked with the initials “AE, TO and SM” will be a small gesture from the Mudpuppies to honor their brothers of the game.
